The Mothers of the mixed race group in Cape Town have been disadvantaged during apartheid and now are disadvantaged again under the new democracy.
Their husbands are absent and on drugs, their sons are in gangs and also on drugs.
They have no means of generating a liveable wage to sustain themselves.
The government and civil society have abandoned them and they carry the burden of the family with no assistance.
